China launches new satellite positioning

China launched Sunday, the fifth satellite, in space, as part of a network of satellite navigation, in a move that
will reduce the adoption of the Beijing to U.S. satellites.

According to the New China News Agency "Xinhua" A rocket carrying a satellite fifth among a group of 35 satellites launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province.





The agency said "China has started building the navigation system has a space in the year 2000, ending its dependence on the system (GPS) when the U.S. sent two satellites as an experimental system to determine the sites consisting of two satellites."

The aim of the new system "Beidou" to provide navigation and timing services and SMS in Asia and the Pacific in about the year 2010, and the system will be able to provide global navigation services by 2020.
